In recent years, international students in Swinburne University are diverse and are increasing in population. Students leaving their countries mean that sometimes they get out of their comfort zone but land up in a situation called Culture Shock. They find the differences in culture between their home country and Melbourne. We would like to know by the survey the culture shock variation regarding nationality, social, and environmental changes. In addition , we will ask the students what things are different from their culture. Our expectation is to understand how international students cope with culture shock in Australia.
We expect that most of the International students would face some obstacles of differences such as climate, language barriers and social behaviors. The climate in Australia is mostly dry that can make us feel uneasy dehydrate. In addition, language barrier is one of the most difficult thing that many international students have to deal with. Last but not least, some social behaviors also surprised or offend us. For instance, we would be surprised to see couple hugging each other or kissing in public. Finally, we foresee that most of the international students are difficult to adept with the new impact at the first, while they will be more comfortable to deal with it later on.
